FAQs

What do students have to bring?

A snack, lunch, and some writing stationery. Any use of technology will be catered to by the camp.

Does my student need to take Session I to take Session II?

No. These classes were designed so that they could be taught independently and together at the same time. You won't be missing out if you miss Session I or Session II, but your experience can also be enriched by taking both sessions. Classes are complementary, not dependent.

My student took Humanicamp last year. Will the content be the same?

The content will be different. While we may touch on similar subject areas (i.e. history, creative writing) the classes vary year to year depending on the expertise and interests of the instructors. It is possible that lessons will occasionally overlap from previous years; however, Humanicamp is an activity based summer camp, ensuring that students will experience a unique learning environment every year.

Why did you decide to create this summer camp?

We decided to create this camp due to the huge discrepancy that we have seen in camp opportunities in our community between STEM focuses and humanities focuses. We hope to create an opportunity for all students to gain an introduction into aspects of humanities studies, and apply the skills they learn to their future education and the real world.

What is the Envision Conservatory for Humanities? What does it do?

Envision Conservatory is an after-school program at CCA for those who are interested in specific subjects within the arts. Coordinated by Mr. Brown and Mr. Stiven, and founded in 2013 as part of one of the many conservatories at CCA, Humanities Conservatory was designed to be a close knit community for students passionate about subjects in the humanities. It has grown into a flourishing group of projects students work on collaboratively.
